Be Watchful for Frauds

We are all in the process of enjoying our holidays, and we are a lot more open to giving, donating and being charitable this time of year.  This is why as our year is winding down we should also be a little more careful of scammers.  They have learned a lot over the past few years and really like to prey on mature adults.  In this digital age they have learned to let their fingers do the stalking and can quickly and efficiently gather all kinds of useful information on us.

Have you received a call lately from someone claiming to be a tech-support worker hunting for viruses, asking for your log in information? Or, a bill collector asking for your credit card information on the phone?  My husband got this one, your grandson is in a foreign jail, or hospital and needs money wired so they can get home.  But my personal favorite is the fake IRS Agent, who threaten arrest and seizure if taxes are not paid immediately.  I could go on and on, there are so many of these out there.  They come up with new ones everyday to separate you from your hard earned cash.

Bottom line folks, use a little common sense, DO NOT GIVE OUT SOCIAL SECURITY, CREDIT CARD OR OTHER PERSONAL or FINANCIAL INFORMATION.  Tell them you want to just verify the facts and try to gather as much information about them as possible.  See how long they stay on the call.....

That's it from me today, enjoy your holiday and stay safe.
